Welcome to Pat Silver-Lasky's official web site

You’ve heard about Syd Field, Robert McKee and a few other 20th century gurus. Now Pat Silver-Lasky has updated the art of screenwriting in her new book : SCREENWRITING FOR THE 21st CENTURY.
As a team with her late husband, Jesse Lasky, Jr, Pat wrote films both in Hollywood and in the UK and contributed episodes to many of the top TV series (see credits page 2). Pat has a new screenplay is in development and a TV series in the works.
A working writer who wears two hats, Pat also taught at the London (International) Film School for 8 years until 1999. Listening to the things students really wanted to know taught Pat a great deal about teaching and lecturing. It led Pat to write Screenwriting for the 21st Century.

Barry Norman – The highly acclaimed film journalist, TV host and author, has called the book,

"A most invaluable guide for an aspiring screenwriter – clear, concise and entertainingly written. Here, based on the author’s lifetime experience of the movie business, is all you need to know about what to do – and just as importantly what not to do – when composing that Oscar-winning screenplay.”
John Boorman – The Academy Award winning director (presented a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2004 BAFTAs) took time from filming in Ireland in December 2003 to write :

“Many thanks for letting me read your comprehensive guide to screenwriting. I have an irrational aversion to those ghastly script gurus, but your opus is quietly informative and exhaustively thorough. My only fear is that it will encourage even more people to write scripts, many of which will be sent to me.”
